Join us Here at the Farm in 2024.
We are Grateful to Offer an Online Educational Space in 2025!
We envision our children as powerful catalysts for positive social change. We seek to empower them with a new way of looking at their world: through the eyes of a seed. We have created curriculum that is robust: offering STEM based K-12 learning modules on topics such as seed saving, regenerative organic agriculture and healthy soil practices, growing food, preserving food naturally, as well as cultivating and cooking indigenous heritage heirlooms to the americas such as corn, beans, and squash.
While we are fortunate to live in a time and place where garden-based curriculums are abundant, we would like to add a piece of the puzzle that is often missing: saving the seeds from garden crops to plant again next year and incorporating that into a larger food-systems and earth-impact lens of awareness.
Instead of showing the plant life cycle from seed to harvest, we envision students discovering the entire cycle, from seed to seed. We also want to open the minds of our youth the the importance of local food, carbon footprint, and the powerful impact their everyday small decisions an have on our climate.
And as we have hopped onto our soapbox, we couldn't resist leaning into the importance of place and the acknowledgement of those who have lived on the land where we now live. We endeavor to honor them by sharing their wisdom. Our materials about native seed heritage, as well as time honored cultural practices around the foods those seeds created, are an offering to empower youth to embrace both their own culture as well as to be able to see the world from a multicultural perspective.
If you would like to coordinate a visit to our farm and/or have us come to your classroom virtually to share our speciality curriculum for middle school and based on the STEAM model let us know! This curriculum can be adapted for all levels and aligns with Next Generation Science Standards.
