Herbal Module 6 - Teas and Bitters for Calming the Mind and Soothing the Body

Digestive Bitters Recipe #1: Sweet and Simple

​Ingredients:
2 tsp chamomile (dried, whole)
​1 tsp lemon zest (fresh)
1 tsp local raw honey or Manuka honey
​3 cups rum

Instructions
​1. Add chamomile, lemon zest, and honey to mason jar
2. Completely cover herbs and honey with 3cups of rum
3. Seal jar and place in a cool dark place, shaking every 2-3 days for 3-5 weeks. 
4. Once you have achieved you desired level of tase and medicinal extraction strain the plant mattering a strainer or cheese cloth.
5. Label and store in a cool dry place. 

Digestive Bitters #2: Ayurvedic and Chinese Herbs

​Ingredients:
3 tsp ​chamomile (dried, whole)
6 tsp ginger (fresh chopped)
3 tsp lemon peel (fresh preferred, dried also good)
3 tsp orange peel (fresh preferred, dried also good)
1 whole cinnamon stick
1 tsp dried astralagus (dreid, powdered)
6 whole long peppers (pipli)
agave (about 1 tsp can add more later to taste)
vodka (enough to cover the constituents in you choice of mason jar size (I suggest a quart sized mason jar)

Instructions
​1. Add chamomile, ginger, lemon peel, orange peel, cinnamon stick, astralagus, long peppers and agave to mason jar
2. Completely cover herbs and honey sufficient amount of vodka
3. Seal jar and place in a cool dark place, shaking every 2-3 days for 3-5 weeks. 
4. Once you have achieved you desired level of tase and medicinal extraction strain the plant mattering a strainer or cheese cloth.
5. Label and store in a cool dry place.
